Not sure it ever really did! Two grand old men of darts slugging it out like it's 2006.

LOVE the shot of their tense embrace at the end with the flaming spark cannons going off. An iconic night for them and the game. Technically undoubtedly a level or more below the afternoon wondergames but the sense of occasion lifted it up another few.

Barney thinks he needs a day off he should see the state I am in. Worst case scenario averted. The power has left the building.

Barney plays better against mvg for some reason, but I think mvg will be really psyched up for the game. Hopefully will be a close game.

Poor game that. Like watching two 38 year old heavyweight boxers way past their best slugging away.

I do hope they schedule Anderson v Wright second on sunday as that could be a classic.

You just want to see it written down. Barney's 180 in the final leg was reminiscent of the same shot in their world final 10 years that rocked the Purfleet strip club and everyone in it.

PDC Darts @OfficialPDC 22m
BARNEY WINS!!! Phil Taylor is out of the @WilliamHill World Darts Championship!

96 v 96 would have been considered a very good standard when these two were at their peak. You only need to have seen Chizzy-Ando earlier to see how high the intensive farming era of darts talent has lifted that standard. Cristo Reyes v Dimitri Van den Bergh and Corey Cadby v Joe Cullen were a level above this in the last 64. It's not about numbers though, is it? Come along.

'Legs first to double attempt' is a good stat, he continued. Barney first to a double far more often, showing that Taylor was locked in chase mode. Don't think he did ever lead.

No Englishman in the last 4. First time. Peter Wright was born in Scotland and represents them at the World Cup so don't come that.

Order of play on New Year's Day from what I saw on screen:

ANDERSON v WRIGHT
VAN GERWEN v VAN BARNEVELD

For centuries Philth has been popping the board off the wall and with all the compassion of a serial killer asking his gutted victims to sign the fucker with a fat simpleton marker pen when all they want to do is go home and die.

Well. 8)

I haven't been watching darts few years, it's only untill recently, but how long has Phil had that awful nervous twich, where he runs his tongue along the top of him gums and does some weird jaw movement? That's a sign of a stroke on the way...just saying.

It's nice Barney has gone back to wearing his old shirt. I first got into darts watching Barney in his bdo days, when it was still good.

A performance in my opinion that overshadows anything that happens tomorrow or that has happened so far. It's one thing playing like that over ten legs in the Premier League, but doing that in a World semi-final against a bloke who beat him last year and was averaging 109 tonight there's just no precedent for it or for him. Just wow. Barney sounds genuinely traumatised.
