Highest losing average in Worlds history by a mile. Waiting for the score in legs as it will look closer than 6-2 I'm sure. In the fifth set it was looking like a 50/50 sort of match to me, knowing Barney's history and motivation. Then.

It's why I laugh at those who deride this as a pub game. This is serious talent that mere mortals will never have.

Incredible.

Typical his badgering of Rod Studd to reveal whose record he'd smashed and what it was. He's into all that. Well guess who.

Amazed it stood for so long. 15 years! So good that not even Taylor ever beat it in the intensive darts tour era. Well van Gerwen just made it look silly.

2002 PDC Worlds: (111.21) Phil Taylor 6-1 Shayne Burgess (90.54), Last 16, 23 legs

19-13 in legs. Rarely judge a match by its sets score. Barney's doubles. 68% over 32 legs that were shared fairly equally, that's beyond world class and could even be a record. He missed nothing and got nothing to show for it. Match.

8 of the PM. Gulp. I did me a lump on Anderson and was about to offset a little on MvG to guarantee some win tonight but MvG is fooking 3/10 though!

Utterly ridiculous. Anderson is the same odds to be champion now as he was before he played the world #3 in the FuckoffGoldsteins. Bookies horrified by MvG's magnificence but I don't think he'll even win. All kinds of records could be shattered tonight. Anything could happen, apart from a 9-darter.

Anderson 11/4. It's an 'eds gone fer me. Back to back champ in the form of his life and seething. MvG won't play anywhere near as well as he did last night. They'll meet in the 100+ region somewhere and have a right old dingdong.

They switch refs after about 6 sets so there's a good chance he'll be doing one half if he's still with us.

I suspect it'll be Kirk Bevins and George Noble, as Paul Hinks and Russ Bray did the semis.

I think Anderson will give MVG a surprise as he's well capable of maintaining a high scoring and checkout standard himself.

I know this is an odd thing to say after the standard of the last two MVG matches but GA has one hell of a temperament at this squeaky bum level and MVG does tend to turn it on most when he's got clear daylight on his opponent. What he does until then has a few flaws I reckon.

At this advanced stage of my life and given my parchant for form and figure and art, it's all about throwing-style for me. Anderson wins it for me. He's too fast for my taste, but MVG's chucking technique is ugly. I really liked Peter Wright's release btw ... just saying. Sad I know, but these are the sad things in my life that I notice.

I have greatest respect for Rugby Union, they started it mid-way through the 19th century. Thankfully we grabbed it and turned it into a spectacle on 29th August 1895
