Was listening to Gorgeous George on Talk Radio and realised it was time for the futbal.

Went downstairs to watch.

25 minutes later, I'm back upstairs listening to GG.

Firstly, I switched on and had to do a double take with the 2 abominations of kits that the teams were wearing.

England have long since lost the plot with theirs. But what is that pink and black all about for Scotland - yet another charity initiative like Middlesex did a few years ago?

Isn't anyone in either FA / SFA or dare I say it, FIFA taking a step back and asking if the look of the spectacle is right?

What is the rationale for a yes to that issue? Someone enlighten me.

Nothing against any of the teams colours but when did it change that England play in white and blue and Scotland play in blue and white?

Then the football which was all the usual 10 yard possession stuff with no-one in either team capable of breaking out of that trendy sideways / backwards passing, especially if you are under the slightest bit of pressure.

And if they come under pressure, their decision making and skill execution is remarkable poor (on both sides). Unless, it's a simple 10 yard pass to an obvious player, they just don't know what to do and are incapable of doing anything else.

Then comes the other issue with possession football which is that the game is devoid of goalmouth action including shots. WTF has happened to the sport so we now watch this passathon without any shots on goal and accept is meekly as being okay?

On one occasion, Lallana slipped and went past an opponent and surprise, surprise, the game opened up. An exception which proved the rule.

Sturridge's goal was excellent. At least Daniel has an eye for goal. He hasn't forgotten what the end result of the game actually is.

Add in, shots of Rooney and his pained expression as he tries to turn the clock back a decade and Clive Tyldesley's semi-apologetic commentary as another laboured England move breaks down with a misplaced pass and / or Walker running yet another ball over the goal line and it's all just about complete as a waste of fucking time.

As for Scotland, Baxter, Law, White, Gilzean, Souness, Bremner, Gemmill, Rioch etc would be turning in their graves / care home chairs.
