Vaughan - 'I didn't expect England to win the series here, but I expected them to compete.'

Didn't he say before the series that we'd lose 5-0?

Yes. A bit sad how he's turned into Rentaquote. A touch of the Irani zane about him, too.

Hats off to Kohli; he's been immense this series.

Only pride to play for in reaching 231 to avoid an innings defeat . And even that looks in doubt.

There's a lot of knee jerk reactions in the media, totally overlooking the fact that every other team that's gone to India in the last couple of years has been slaughtered.

You need to judge the Bayliss era on all the results this team has had and winning back the ashes and going to SA and winning are big pluses. Unless you have top class spinners (and we don't) then getting results in Asia is always going to be tough and there's little any captain or coach combination can do about that.

Is that an excuse for England Lou?

Vaughan is dead right. England have been an embarrassment. No application, shite technique, and pathetic temperament. Who is responsible for that lot?

Another tonking from the Indians consigns hapless england to series defeat, by an innings this time. Margins are getting wider.

england are the Scotland of international cricket.

What does that make Australia? The San Marino of international cricket?

India - New Zealand 2016 India win 3-0
India - South Africa 2015 India win 3-0
India - Australia 2013 India win 4-0

Either all non Asian teams are hapless or people aren't seeing this series in a realistic context.

What have Australia got to do with India hammering england for the 3rd successive time? Just curious to know.

If England are the Scotland of cricket (as you suggest) then Australia - losing at home to SA, losing in England, battered everywhere they go on the sub continent atm - need to be given an even lower ranking than the one I originally gave them (which is what your comment was alluding to, after all  )

Lou two things I don't understand.

Why do you try and make England appear to be less than crap by stating that other teams have lost in India. It doesn't wash, England are currently shite

What is the point of referring to previous victories. It's now that matters.

Someone needs to get amongst them and kick a few arses instead of sending them on a holiday to Dubai. That really worked well didn't it.

Do you not understand context? If every team that goes to India gets humped as badly or worse than us then maybe it tells you India are a fantastic team on home soil? If you judge us only on this series then you would clear out half the team - but then who do you bring in? And will the people you bring in be any help in facing South Africa and West Indies in the conditions of an English summer?

You can kick arse all you like, but Moeen and Rashid are largely bowling to the best of their ability. It is not a lack of effort, they simply aren't Monty Panesaar or Graeme Swann. You can kick Bairstow's arse for poor keeping, but it's not his fault. He tries. He simply isn't a front line keeper.

Cricket is a game of small margins - a couple of key takes from Bairstow, a few crucial catches dropped are all that lie between success and failure in this series. India ARE a fantastic team, featuring the best batsman in the world and some of the best spinners in the game. So many knee-JERKS around at the moment. England in the last couple of years has made good strides forward, both in test and one day cricket. The last thing we need is over-reaction and wholesale changes. The alternatives are simply not out there, while what we currently have is good, in many cases young, and full of potential.

If you do want to kick arse though, I suggest you try the money men who schedule England to play EIGHTEEN test matches in a 12 month period. How can any team play at their peak when asked to play such a ridiculous schedule?

Sorry, a cricket pitch is made of grass. Whilst I will concede that home countries have a benefit because they are used to playing on this grass with a different soil composition which is prepared differently, the bottom line is the bowler bowls and the batsman bats the same all over the world. To use home soil and other teams performance is a huge and pathetic excuse and a cop out.

England are currently woeful and most of it is all in the mind, and as long as people like you keep making sxcuses for them, they will believe that they are not as bad as they are and it's all down to outside factors.

I'd sooner listen to the likes of Vaughan and Boycott who tell it like it is.

Home advantage is huge. Do you know how rare it is to win a series away from home these days? There are no longer warm up matches to acclimatise. It's not an excuse, it is a proven statistic. People like Vaughan are attention seeking idiots. He said before the series started that we would lose 5-0. We haven't lost 5-0, so by his own analysis we have done better than he expected us to do. Now of course he is bleating that we haven't put up as good a fight as he was expecting. He's a moron.

I've at no point said England have covered themselves in glory here, but if you can't see the series within the context of where we are playing, within the context of the huge amount of cricket that money grabbers have forced us to play and that in India having a world class spinner is critical, then you are also deluded.

Whatever mind tricks you want to implement, I guarantee you they won't turn Moeen and Rashid into Swann and Panesaar or bowlers of their class.

I'd love the view of a real expert on here like Tennisman, because I know you'll never respect my opinion, but I think you'd give his a bit more credence. And I'd have a sly bet that he's more in tune with me than he is with Boycott or Vaughan.

All I see in the main are excuses. I'm well aware of the advantsge you get when playing at home, and having a class specialist performer, but it's easy to categorise those as the reason that we lost. We didn't just lose though we were annhialated. That was not just down to being away or playing against one or two players who are better, the big reason imo is mentality.

Cook keeps telling us the team have learned lessons, but I don't see any evidence of it, all I see is pathetic application and no guts and grit, but it's what we have come to expect from our inconsistent sportsmen.

It's the first time in 33 innings that England have had a century partnership for the third wicket.
If Arsenal were playing in my back garden, I would draw the curtains.
