Sinbad wrote:Yes, i get all that, but after ten games last season, Arsenal had only scored 18 goals and were sitting in second place. Don't remember Arsenal being called out over a lack of goals.
...precisely because they were in second place, it has to be relative. The fact that Spurs haven't lost and drawn so many (relatively) compounds the issue but then they'd be in 15th and not 5th place.

So, it's not about goals scored, it's about league position. Are you saying that if spurs were in second place, there wouldn't be any talk about them struggling to score goals ?
The two are not mutually exclusive but if Spurs were in second place now it would be less of an issue because they would have won more games than they have.

So i was right then...

:)
Your basic premise was that I (we) disagreed with you that Spurs have an issue scoring goals, relative to this season without their primary goalscorer they haven't won as many games as they probably should have which is why they are fifth not second so no you are not correct. :)

Ant, after last night, i'll happily put my hands up and concede that i was wrong...

1-1 now. Looking forward to the usual cutthroat post NLD, incendiary exchange from Steve and Rupe tomorrow whatever the outcome.

Disappointing derby, and I disagree with Clattenburv and Webb on the pen. Koscielny did not make contact with Dembele. Dembele was involved in a challenge with another Arsenal player near the edge of the box and the momentum of that caused him to fall into Koscielny.
Don't always believe what you think, because sometimes its' a load of shite

Not from me, Lawnsy.

Amazed we got a point, but at the end felt a little disappointed we didn't get all 3.

But on reflection, can't complain given that I expected a heavy defeat.
If Arsenal were playing in my back garden, I would draw the curtains.

Jannsen nearly won it for you at the end, Steve with a wonderful free kick that went through everyone and hit the post.

A horrible fixture to endure. I'm just happy we escaped with a draw.
Spurs started very well and credit to Poch, he got his tactics right.
We were sluggish and generally lacked urgency.
I sense Spurs will take points off the other top teams, so a point is far from a disaster.
Just happy we got the fixture out of the way.

It makes the Utd game crucial now.

We've not really been at it since beating Chelsea, that's the worry. Can't see us getting anything at Old Trafford.

Yet again Arsenal fail to show up at Old Trafford. Happy with the totally undeserved point. But I'm concerned by the teams recent form.

Yeah, but at least spurs put in a decent performance, Arsenal were dreadful. Next up PSG then Bournemouth at home, followed by a tricky away fixture at Southampton. I'll be amazed if we get through those three unscathed.

So Lawnsy, Del you both think Arsenal and spurs played well at the weekend ? And Steve and myself shouldn't be critical of our clubs performances ?

Not true, Del.

The last time Spurs played well was when we beat Man C & I was full of praise.

Since then we have been mediocre at best & downright shit against Leverkusen

Dear, oh dear... Arsenal only showed up for 15 minutes in the second half. So it's second place in the group again..... :x This season, i'm not 100% convinced that not winning the will be Arsenal's downfall. The way things stand at the moment, if Arsenal were to win Group A, they could still end up drawing:- Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Juventus or Napoli.
